Movie descriptions:
Michel by Romain Richard 12:03
In order to financially subsist, Michel, a cranky old man, is forced to share his home with Pierre, a young student who finds it difficult living with an intrusive elderly person. In the hopes of securing an intimate dinner at home with his girlfriend, Pierre tries to appease his capricious roommate to gain privacy.
Masciarae (Witches) by Domenico de Ceglia & Serena Porta 9:02
‘Masciara’ in the southern italian countryside is a witch, a marginalized, outcast woman. “Masciarae” brings you back to an old childhood season, under the sun of the italian countryside, dried and sunburnt. Among the fields of olive trees, five children play when, through the branches of a fig tree, they see a witch carrying a package in her basket. Curiosity, malignity, superstition and fear of odd become the elements related to the world of magic. Witches, prisoners of an unwanted myth, found themselves to be something the others had decided them to be.
Node by Engin Poyraz 19:59
This is the story of those who live on an island in the middle of a lake. In the movie which tells that the life—even during childhood, youth and old age—does not change for this island and its residents, the time is depicted as a static phenomenon. The island never changes; no one leaves/can leave there even though years show them the reality called “death”. They dream about the things beyond the lake; these dreams are like meaningful journeys to them. They think of being somewhere else, in other places, maybe in different lives; however, they are knotted onto that island from cradle to grave just as their boats they knot on the dock at the end of every workday.
Intrinsic Moral Evil by Harm Weistra 10:45
Intrinsic Moral Evil seems to be a tale of identity and coming of age. But above all, the three dancers play with the viewer’s perception and expectations. The layered story gradually develops; revealing its last secrets just before the end credits start. Inviting the audience to make its own interpretation.
Ingrid Ekman, Bergsgatan 4B by Jessica Liander 14:52
67 year old Ingrid has decided to deal with cancer on her own. She retreats from the outside world and it retreats from her – apart from sporadic visits from the home care services. But then home care employee Frida knocks on her door and awakens feelings that Ingrid can’t shut out.
Rendezvous by Sylvia Borges 30:01
Carla (mid 20) plunges head first into an “Amour Fou”. When the photographer Jacob (mid 40) wants her to come to Paris she leaves everything behind and hitches a ride to the “city of love”. But not only Paris also her Rendezvous doesn’t go along with her romantic expectations.
Light Stand-In by Alexandre Triaca 9:10
A distraught young woman leaves work and goes randomly walk in the city. Approaching a film shoot, her sadness will strangely coincide with the feeling asked by the director to his actress…
Women by Terez Koncz 15:14
A short example about basic incentives.

Join Francesco Sisci, who recently interviewed the Pope, as he discusses the Vatican’s foreign policy, its attitude towards China and its bigger role in international politics.

COWSPIRACY – Documentary Screening at The Bookworm
Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking feature-length environmental documentary following intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.
Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution, is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rainforest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged.
As Andersen approaches leaders in the environmental movement, he increasingly uncovers what appears to be an intentional refusal to discuss the issue of animal agriculture, while industry whistleblowers and watchdogs warn him of the risks to his freedom and even his life if he dares to persist.
As eye-opening as Blackfish and as inspiring as An Inconvenient Truth, this shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population.
