Introducing: The China 10 Journalism Panel

China 10 Journalism

Five journalists with extensive China experience will convene at The Bookworm tomorrow to discuss the rewards, challenges, and nuances of reporting in this country in the past decade. There’s a lot to cover from this diverse panel, from Vatican-China relations to Sino-Japanese, from how the Olympics shifted (if it did) our perception of the country to how social media is affecting the journalist’s job, from Hu Jintao to Xi Jinping. We’ll try to cover it all! And of course, there will be time for audience questions.

The participants:

Charles Hutzler, current China Bureau Chief of The Wall Street Journal and former China Bureau Chief for the Associated Press. He is a graduate of Yale University and conducted postgraduate research in Singapore as a Fulbright scholar.

Laura Daverio, who has been a China correspondent for more than 10 years, currently for RSI Swiss Television and Radio, previously for La7 Italian Television. Fluent in five languages, she’s a 2011 Knight Wallace Fellow, Michigan University.

Yosuke Watanabe, who joined Kyodo News in 1983 and has since reported from Shanghai, Hong Kong, Washington, and Beijing. In 2004 he became Kyodo News Beijing Bureau Chief.
